19 things I hate and two things I (kind of) liked about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

1 – Shia Labeouf’s mom was a retard. I hate when movies/shows go for cheap laughs by making one character so unbelievably stupid and socially retarded. If you want me to buy the over the top caricature of a mother sad her son is going away to school, fine. But then when she buys brownies with pot leaves on them from hippies NOT REALISING THEY ARE POT BROWNIES you have lost me. (Guess what audiences, a mother of a 20 something probably went to school in the 60s and 70s. Marijuana isn’t some cool hip thing only kids know about – she was getting baked long before Shia was a twinkle in her eye). Also, her “high behaviour” after eating the brownies was so outrageously not accurate it was almost insulting.

2 – Those weird robots with the bad ebonics and hip hop dialect that didn’t know how to read. Racism, yeah!

3 – Every movie has the obligatory dbag who works for the president/government that wants to fuck everything up. However this movie tried to ‘ground itself in reality’ by mentioning that the president was Obama, so now I’m left to believe that when alien robots attack the earth Obama runs and hides in an underground bunker and sends some representative to tell the good aliens to fuck off and hand a 23 year old kid over to the alien robot terrorists. Yes we can!

4 – Why are Shia and Megan in love? I know in the last movie they decided to get together, but from what I’ve seen all they have in common is that they are both hot and fought robots that one time. Then decided to date. The only conversations they have during the movie are about the robots or about how they should break up. Do they talk about anything else? Do they share common interests? How is this relationship real in any way? What is binding them together? How is this love?

5 – For a movie that had three thousand explosions, car chases, shoot outs, destruction of all major cities, etc etc etc no major characters died. Hell, no minor characters died. In this massive, global attack from alien forces there were ZERO CASUALITIES. All the soldiers made it, the random college students made it, even the fucking parents made it. Why are we even afraid of these aliens they are clearly harmless.

6 – Speaking of his fucking parents, why did they show up at the end fight scene? Why did the robots tap the mom’s phone and then kidnap them in France and then bring them to Egypt an hour later so they could join in on the slo-mo running from explosions?

7 – That hot girl that was secretly a robot? Yeah, I knew she was a robot/bad. You know how I knew? Super hot whorey girls do not obsessively stalk and try to rape a guy they never met before (even if it’s Shia LaBeouf). Sorry Michael Bay, I know I’m ruining some fantasies of yours, but girls. do. not. act. like. that.

8 – Dialogue. I don’t know why I would expect realistic dialogue in a Michael Bay movie (and to be honest, I didn’t) but come on. It’s all ‘snappy’ one-liners like “Kiss this!” or overblown dramatic moments (Shia and his dad in the desert… there’s an epic battle going on guys this is not the time for a heart to heart) or my PET PEEVE IN ALL MOVIES the “for no particular reason I will give a plot summary through dialogue revealing everything that is going on.” For example, the obligatory government dbag at the beginning of the movie explaining to the room of army guys where all the top secret classified alien artifacts are – sure everyone in the room already knows because they are the ones running the operation, but JUST IN CASE the bad guys are listening they now know and the plot can progress! Yay!

9 – The bad guys wanted to blow up the sun. I don’t know why. Why are bad guys obsessed with destroying the sun? I mean if even Mr Burns has given it a go, it’s tired. Find a new shtick for your villain.

10 – Okay, so way back at the dawn of time or whatever the giant alien robots came to earth with some laser sun-destroying machine thing and left it in Egypt and built some pyramids over top to hide it. Alright, I’ll buy it. Now here’s the kicker – once in the pyramids, Shia & co are like “it can’t be here! Archeologists have explored these thoroughly! We must be at a dead end!” (which makes sense), only to discover they were at the right place and the machine was hidden… behind a wall. Archeologists never thought to look behind a wall? With all the technology today no one used any kind of sonar or mapping systems or whatever it is these people use to look inside pyramids? The intricacies of a WALL blocked everyone from seeing the space age robot machine?

11 – Shia was brought back to life by Megan Fox’s acting. Okay, on the one hand it was kind of awesome to see her try and emote, in an “aww, bless her, she’s really trying” kind of way, but if Shia had just stayed dead I would have absolutely zero reason to suffer through the inevitable third film.

12- Why was his stupid roommate there like, the whole time?

13 – It took until the end of the movie (two and a half hours later) until someone came up with the idea to fix Optimus Prime by giving him a new battery and some spare parts. A robot ‘died’ and they really never thought “hey why don’t we just look under the hood, grab some jumper cables and get this thing going again?’ It wasn’t until Shia died and went to robot heaven where the robot elders told him to fix Optimus with the battery dust that was reforming back into... I'm sorry that sentence is too ridiculous for me to continue.

14 – Why is Shia the “chosen one” so to speak, who had to be the one to save them all? Personally it seemed more that he was in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time, but the robot elders were like “it has always been you! It must be you!” Why? Why must it have been him? What specifically did Shia say or do that made him the only one to be able to give Optimus an energy boost?

15 – The robot that humped Megan Fox’s leg. Really.

16 – THE CAMERA WORK OH DEAR GOD. It’s like Michael Bay stayed up all night watching AMC and scribbled notes from fifteen different movies of what he though “looked cool” and then overused them all. Hey, army guys are doing some kind of army mission? Okay, shaky camera the whole time because it looks gritty and real, right? Feeling woozy yet? No? Okay, now it’s romantic scene where the camera spins around the couple nonstop… oh now you’re starting to feel sick, right? Awesome!

17 – On a similar note, the whole “silhouette of Megan Fox in front of the sun which is shining and blinds the camera for a second” was totally less obnoxious than it was in the first one. Still obnoxious, just less.

18 – For a summer blockbuster action adventure movie, it was really kind of boring. I spent a lot of time texting and wishing I had just seen Star Trek again.

19 - It was stupid. The plot, or lack thereof, was stupid. The lines were stupid. The jokes were stupid. It was a stupid, stupid movie. I know everyone responds with “well it’s an action movie about robots, it’s supposed to be stupid!” Well, no. Action movies don’t have to be mindless idiocy. The newer Batman movies are dark and complex. Star Trek had character development and jokes that weren’t all about dry humping and racial stereotypes. The Lord of the Rings won fucking Oscars and it’s about elves and shit. The Bourne movies are quick-paced and action packed without being rushed or messy. Iron Man had a cast consisting almost exclusively of Academy Award winners and nominees. Just because it’s about robots or explosions doesn’t excuse weak plots, poor scripts and a joke of a cast.

Things I (on some level) kind of enjoyed about Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen

1 – How half-assed the inclusion of Shia’s broken hand was. Everyone is magically transported to Egypt thanks to the old man Transformer hidden in the Smithsonian (also this movie & Night at the Museum 2 have taught me that the Smithsonian DOES NOT HAVE ANY NIGHT GUARDS feel free to break in and do what you want) and everyone is fine, except Shia who goes “ahh my hand!” and then the next scene Megan Fox has fashioned him a cast out of… what? Did someone just happen to have a first aid kit on them before they traveled to the middle of the desert? Are there stacks of band aids and gauze buried under the sand all across Egypt? I laughed.

2 – Shia had a Bad Boy’s 2 poster in his dorm room.

as you may or may not know, I am a huge fucking fan of Slumdog Millionaire. It is by far the best movie I've seen all year and it is going to win and deserve every Oscar it is nominated for. I'm a little obsessed right now, so I figured why not share the love via picspam? Includes SPOILERS if you haven't seen it yet (wtf is wrong with you?) & the soundtrack is located at the end of the post, too.

JAI HO!

The end dance sequence makes my fucking life complete. This movie was just so, so perfect. The little kids are ADORABLE (the youngest Jamal is like the cutest kid in the world and I want to adopt him) and the story just pulls your heart in every direction and it's a HAPPY FUCKING ENDING. Do you know how rare it is you get a happy ending that works? Fucking rare, but this movie did it♥. I love the cast (Dev is like my latest crush he is just so dorky and cute, and omg Freida is beautiful) and I love the director (Danny Boyle has been in my top 3 fave directors for fucking ages now) and I LOVE THE FUCKING SOUNDTRACK. Jai Ho and O Saya are nominated for Oscars and it's no wonder because they are THE BEST. I am so excited to see the performances. I hope they have a dance sequence and I hope MIA fucking kills it.
OKAY I AM DONE GUSHING NOW. JUST REMEMBER, BEST. MOVIE. OF. THE. YEAR.

okay, first off. I am okay with Charlotte nose-bleeding and possibly dying, but MILES??? and JULIET???? OHHH HELLLLLL NOOOOOOO.
Also, JULIET IS FUCKING FIERCE. When she pulled out that gun I was like WHAT UPPPPP!
Also Sawyer is lame. I'm sorry, it's true. He used to be badass and hilarious and awesome but no he's like :'( I MISS U K8 LIFE IS HARD WITHOUT U TRU LUV. COME ON! HE CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER. PLEAAAASE STOP TURNING HIM INTO A PUSSY AND GET HIM BACK TO HIS USUAL AWESOMENESS ASAP.
Also I SOOO called Ben being behind the Aaron thing. CAAAAALLED IT.
ALSO SUN IS BADASS AND I HOPE SHE SHOOTS A BITCH.

Anyway, after all that, the episode wasn't 900% fantastic. Jack and Kate are boring. The stupid Jack/Kate/Sawyer love doom needs to be done like three seasons ago.

AAAAAND am I the only one NOT happy Jin survived? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Jin and I LOVE the idea of Sun being badass killer then finding out he wasn't even dead, but come on. He was on the freighter that BLEW UP. I just don't like "killing" a character only to find out they're not really dead. I blame Heroes for doing that every other episode for the past two years and ruining the concept for me.

ALSO I DISLIKE THE GIRL THEY HAD PLAYING YOUNGROUSSEAU. SHE WAS NOT PRETTY AND NOT A GOOD ACTOR (SOFAR) AND SEEMED A LITTLE TOO YOUNG (ROUSSEAU WAS ABOUT 40, BEEN THERE FOR 16 YEARS, MEANS THIS CHICK SHOULD LOOK OLDER THAN 13).

SO BASICALLY, MEHHH. NEEDS MORE DESMOND/FARADAY/BITCHY MILES/SAYID KILLING PEOPLE WITH DISHWASHERS and less everything else.

1) I didn't get the internship I'd wanted. Boo. Oh well, back to the search.

2) I just started getting caught up on season four of Supernatural and OMG. SO. GOOD.

3) Speaking of, I saw My Bloody Valentine 3D the other night. (Why does every shitty horror remake have one of the Winchesters in it?) It was awful, cheesey campy goodness up until the stupid-ass ending. I mean, what the fuck was that? I was there to see a b-movie full of pointless gore and 3D death scenes, don't ruin it by trying to have a ~surprise~ ending. What ever happened to the classic slasher killers, where it was never one of the main characters secretly murdering or some guy who was tortured as a child unable to deal with his past, going crazy and murdering? I miss evil undead psychos with a thirst for teenager blood. Those were the days.

We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Because he is going to fuck your world up. He is chaos and destruction and madness all in one pretty little package.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 5. Not bad for someone who's fictional in a fictional world.

SYLAR - HEROES

Looks like you're the villain, Peter. I'm the hero.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Back in season one, Sylar was my favourite character. He was absolutely badass. I love me a villain naturally, and he was the best kind - no tortured childhood or guilt and remorse, just a need for power, a want to kill. WITH HIS MIND. Also, eating brains? BEYOND fucked up! I was totally rooting for him. Then the next couple seasons happened, and well, I just don't want to talk about that.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 5. Used to be a solid 9 before he started skipping rocks and talking about his feelings with Veronica Mars. Damn you Heroes!

HOUSE - HOUSE MD

Who here doesn't have health insurance? None? None at all? Michael Moore was right. MRIs, PET scans, neuro-psych tests, and private rooms for all these patients. Fight the power!

WHY HE'S BADASS: He's a liar and a drug addict and doesn't give a fuck about rules or what anyone else thinks or wants or says. He's a rebel in the truest of forms, and on top of all that he's a motherfucking genius.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 6, straight up.

DANNY OCEAN - THE OCEAN'S MOVIES

You shook Sinatra's hand. You should know better.

WHY HE'S BADASS: He's my fucking role model, which is weird because he's a master criminal... but he's so much more than that. He's suave as hell. He is always five steps ahead of everything you say or do. He is committed and thorough and always thinking. He is funny and charming and seriously, fucking suave. Plus, he robs casinos. That's just cool.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 6.5. Points deducted for how shitty Ocean's 12 was.

GILES - BTVS

Unbelievable! "Do you like my mask? Isn't it pretty? It raises the dead!" Americans!

WHY HE'S BADASS: He's a librarian that saves the world. Enough said.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 7. That goes for Rupert and Ripper, by the way.

MULDER - THE XFILES

I would never lie. I willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Because this bitch Never. Gives. Up. How many years did he search for his sister to no avail? How many years did he hunt and track down any sign of aliens or conspiracies to get nowhere, or worse, to move one step forward and two steps back? He never backed down and never gave up and determination is totally fucking badass.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 7.5.

TONY ALMEIDA - 24

WHY HE'S BADASS: Not everyone can come back from the dead. And coming back from the dead only to become a terrorist taking revenge on those who wronged you, and THEN deciding to undo the terrorist organization from the inside out? Vengeance is sexy.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 8. He learned from the master you know.

DEAN - SUPERNATURAL

Dude, I full on Swayze-d that mother.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Sure Tony came back from the dead, but Dean came back from HELL. Where he ENJOYED HIMSELF. And before that he was already badass - cool car, good taste in music, wicked oneliners... and handles guns great while killing demons. Really, really cool car actually.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 8, and increases with every witty remark (or Eye of the Tiger singalong).

DWIGHT - SIN CITY

I'm Shellie's new boyfriend and I'm out of my mind. If you so much as talk to her or even think her name, I'll cut you in ways that'll make you useless to a woman.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Like he said, he's out of his mind. He isn't afraid to take on an entire corrupt police force in defence of his machine gun toting prostitute girlfriend. Plus, he's Clive fucking Owen. That man oozes badassery.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY 8.5

DEXTER - DEXTER

There's something strange and disarming about looking at a homicide scene in the daylight of Miami. It makes the most grotesque killings look staged, like you're in a new and daring section of Disney World: Dahmerland!

WHY HE'S BADASS: He's a fucking SERIAL KILLER. REALLY. FOR REAL. HE MURDERS PEOPLE. LOTS OF THEM. Ties them up, tortures them, cuts them up into little pieces then GETS AWAY WITH IT. If it were real life I'd be terrified, but it's tv so it's just awesome and kind of hot.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 8.5. Seriously, I shouldn't find him this hot, but I really, really, do.

SPIKE - BTVS

You know, you take the killing for granted, and then it's gone, and you're like, I wish I'd appreciated it more. Stop and smell the corpses, you know.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Because he doesn't fucking sparkle.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 9.

BEN - LOST

Of course, if I was one of them - these people that you seem to think are your enemies - what would I do? Well, there'd be no balloon, so I'd draw a map to a real secluded place like a cave or some underbrush - good place for a trap - an ambush. And when your friends got there a bunch of my people would be waiting for them. Then they'd use them to trade for me. I guess it's a good thing I'm not one of them, huh? ... You guys got any milk?

WHY HE'S BADASS: He's Ben fucking Linus! He always has a plan! He mind-fucked everyone on that island! He basically committed genocide against the Dharma Initiative! He used a frozen donkey wheel to move an island through time and space, woke up in a desert a year later and ninja-ed some passerbys like it ain't no thing! And it wasn't because he's BEN FUCKING LINUS! And for the last time, where is Michael Emerson's Emmy?

BRUCE WAYNE/BATMAN - BATMAN

WHY HE'S BADASS: He's the fucking BATMAN. He takes vigilante justice to a whole new level. He's just some guy, some fucked up rich dude, who decided to take gadgets and technology and make himself a superhero to save the most fucked up city in the world. Because he's been fucking awesome for years before TDK and will be for years after. Because not even Joel Schumacher can ruin him.
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 10. He's fucking BATMAN.

SAYID - LOST

I've worse things to fear than what's in the jungle. What I did today - what I almost did - I swore to do never again. If I can't keep that promise, I have no right to be here.

WHY HE'S BADASS: Do you remember that time when he was caught by the Others, and they had him down on his knees, with a gag in his mouth, and his hands tied behind his back? And then he swept his legs out, knocked an Other down and broke their neck with his thighs? Yeah, that's why Sayid's badass. (Not to mention, for at least four seasons he was the only one who knew what they were doing on that craphole island. Trooping around looking for something? Sayi'ds on it. Something's broken? Sayid'll fix it. Something bad happen? Sayid's got a plan. Jack'll take full credit, but it was all Sayid.)
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 10. Yeah I'm a little biased, as he is my all time favourite character of all time (if time permits he may receive his own spam of hotness and torture) but come on, you know the man's a 10.

JACK BAUER - 24

Do you know the difference between dying for nothing and dying for something. That's why I'm still alive. That's the only reason why I managed to stay alive in China, so I wouldn't die for nothing. Today, I can die for something.

WHY HE'S BADASS: He has saved the world in less than a day 6 times. He saved Africa in 2 hours. What have you done lately?
LEVEL OF PWNACITY: 11. He sees your scale of one to ten and defies it. He's Jack fucking Bauer. The term BAMF was created to find a way to accurately describe his epicness.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: Because I want to be her when I grow up. Seriously! Canadian, check. Reporter, check. Wants to travel and focus on career and neverever have kids, major check. I just love that there's a chick on a sitcom who's not into romance or happily ever after.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: 5. She's smart and funny and (up until recently) totally in control of her life, but since she's never killed a dude with her bare hands (that we know of) she's still pretty low on the scale.

ALICE - CLOSER

Lying's the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off - but it's better if you do.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: Because in a movie about lying and cheating and deceit, she's the only character that makes you sympathise with her, think she's really a decent, albeit naive, person who doesn't deserve all this betrayal - only to find out she was lying all along, since the very beginning.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: 5. Would be lower but she just looks so good in a pink wig.

HARLEY QUINN - BATMAN

Harley Quinn[disguised as a flight attendant]: Batman, thank god you're here! Some man took over the plane."
Batman: The Joker.
Harley Quinn: [pulls out gun] Yeah. Ain't he neat?

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: Why isn't she ferosh? Homegirl is crazy, straight-up. Would you want to run into her in a dark alley? Sure, she's more often than not found in a less-than-healthy relationship (Joker, Ivy) but we all no hell hath no fury like a chick who's always getting dumped on.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: 6. She's a villain, for fuck's sake, an honest to god villain.

REGINA GEORGE - MEAN GIRLS

Regina George: Hello, may I please talk to Taylor Wedell?
Taylor Wedell's Mom: She's not home yet, who's calling?

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: She's a life ruiner. She ruins peoples lives. Seriously, who didn't know a Regina back in high school? I knew her, fuck for a while I was her. That's what makes this bitch so evil - we've all gone head to head with someone just like her. Whether or not we pushed them in front of a bus is another story.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: 6.5. Do not trust her, she is a fugly slut.

WILLOW - BTVS

Mom! I'm not acting out... I'm a witch. I make pencils float. I summon the four elements! Well... two elements... but four soon. And I'm dating a musician!

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: Because you don't have to be bad to be a badass. She was little quiet dorky girl, and then she's saving the world and being a witch and dating girls. Talk about character development. Sure, the whole destroying the world thing wasn't her best idea, but at least it got her out of that awful addicted-to-magic storyline.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: 7, a balance between sweet season two Willow and killing-you-all season six Willow.

SUN - LOST

Yes, you do know, Mr. Widmore... just like you know we've been lying all this time about where we were and what happened to us there. You and I have common interests. When you're ready to discuss them... (Sun hands Widmore her business card). Call me. As you know, we're not the only ones who left the island.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: Did you not see season four? Sun is a force to be reckoned with. I love the scene where she's talking to her father about how she's going to ruin his life. Did anyone not want to scream "FUCK YEAH!"? Because I did (in fact I might have actually screamed that. Moving on..)
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: Solid 7, but rating may increase come season five.

SELENA - 28 DAYS LATER

Have you got any plans, Jim? Do you want us to find a cure and save the world or just fall in love and fuck? Plans are pointless. Staying alive's as good as it gets.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: She survived the end of the world. With attitude. Also, that is one of my favourite movie quotes of all time.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH Watch. The. Tudors. If you don't end up thinking Anne is the most badass homewrecker you can't help but LOOOOOOVE then I just don't know what to say to you.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: This chick was my childhood hero. For real, I watched the cartoon all the time, always played as Rogue when the neighbourhood kids would get together and pretend to be superheroes and I'm pretty sure I used a fake accent and said "sugar" all the time. WHY THEY'RE FEROSH: I couldn't pick just one. I couldn't separate them and choose who I think is more badass than the others, I just couldn't. These girls have all saved the world numerous times, gone head-to-head with aliens, robots, robot aliens, etc etc etc and always won the battle AND the war. I can't wait to see what the new companion, whoever it may be, will bring.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: Each come in at a solid 9. Combined that puts them at 27.

SCULLY - THE XFILES

You know, it's strange - men can blow up buildings, and they can be nowhere near the crime scene. But we can piece together the evidence and convict them beyond a doubt. Our labs here can recreate out of the most microscopic details their motivation and circumstance to almost any murder. Right down to a killer's attitude towards his mother and that he was a bed wetter. But in the case of a woman... my sister... who was gunned down in cold blood in a well-lit apartment building by a shooter who left the weapon at the crime scene, we can't even put together enough to keep anybody interested.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: She is fantastic and tough and smart and manages to see the craziest things any human being can see and doesn't lose her mind, and that's more than I could say for most people. She's level-headed and rational and always thinking and planning, but isn't stiff or boring. She's still funny and light or aggressive and passionate when she needs to be. Is my mad love shining through?

JULIET - LOST

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: As if that quote didn't explain it enough. It's pretty hard to not be a fierce motherfucker on Lost, but Juliet has risen to the top of the badasses. Her oneliners always have a bit of a bite to them, her actions always show her strength and her non-willingness to put up with everyone's shit. Hell, dealing with Ben Linus on a daily basis for three years and not killing yourself is enough to get you on this list, but she did it with style.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: 9.5 which I trust will rise. This season of Lost looks it's most badass, and she'll totally get bonus points when she starts banging Sawyer. Jack who?

BUFFY - BTVS

Alright... yes, date, and shop and hang out and go to school and save the world from unspeakable demons. You know, I wanna do girlie stuff.

WHY SHE'S FEROSH: Can this be summed up in one paragraph? She is the Slayer. She saved the world about once a week for seven years, all while dealing with typical teenage problems (trying to pass classes, fighting with the parents, etc) to the harder life problems (mom dying, boyfriend leaving town, etc) and of course, the problems no one but Buffy would ever have to face (vampire boyfriend getting his soul back and trying to kill you, getting dragged out of heaven, etc). Sure, sometimes she can be self righteous and kind of bratty, but she's Buffy. She's the most ass-kickingest girl to ever grace our screens and we should be thankful for her presence. Even when she's bratty.
RANKING ON THE FIERCE-O-METER: She's a 10. She's the chosen one, you can't get much fiercer than that.

I'm addicted to picspammy. This month it's your favourite person. I have about a trillion favourite people in the universe, but I decided to go with my favourite singer/songwriter girl of awesome, Miss Jenny Lewis.

Now I love this girl for about a million reasons. Her songs were the first that I could really relate to as a female. I used to be one of those "girls don't make good musicians I only like guys because they rock harder" type of people, and then I heard The Frug and realised there are some things that only girls can relate to. I thought I was some kind of weird emotional freak until I started listening to Rilo Kiley and realised no, I'm just a girl who's kind of fucked up, much like this one (I mean that with love!). Her lyrics are beautiful and I kind of want to steal her hair. Jenny Lewis is my favourite person.

picspammy is totally becoming my favourite comm. I didn't participate in the last challenge (because even afer a month of thinking I still couldn't think of the perfect actor to play Jay Gatsby, but that's irrelevant), but I am all over this one. Premieres and finales! Favourites! Because I'm predictable I picked the Lost pilot, also known as the best episode of any tv show ever. Seriously, I rewatch this about once a year. It's so amazing and beautifully done and reveals just enough to get you hooked without giving you even the slightest clue of how much is really going to go down. Basically, I LOVE THIS SHOW.

From the moment we met, it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. It was great. We didn't know what we were doing, and all of a sudden she got SNL, so we kind of decided that I guess I had to move to New York; otherwise it wasn't going to work out. So I moved back to New York and it was the greatest. It was great. Probably the best thing that's ever happened to me is Amy.

Everybody loves her, including me. And I should, because she's my wife.

In theory, I should hate these guys. College sweethearts who've only ever been with each other, can't spend a night apart, so cute it's barf-inducing? I should want to punch them in the face everytime they're onscreen, but somehow they're too sweet and perfect for me to do anything but love them. They do things like have dish-offs, get super excited for the holidays and sing night-night songs(second clip in that video) and are completely adorable. For once, a tv couple that doesn't make marriage look like constant bickering.

6 - House & Wilson [House]

Wilson: Why not date you? It's brilliant! We've known each other for years, put up with all kinds of crap from each other, and we keep coming back. We're a couple!

Okay, so that quote essentially sums up why they are a couple. They're best friends, the only ones who really get and put up with each other. They're also needy and slightly co-dependent and there is always jealousy when Wilson starts dating someone new. That goes beyond just normal camaraderie. Wilson even dated the closest thing to House he could find (Cutthroat Bitch). Maybe it's not the healthiest relationship, but there's still definitely something more there. They've gone way past that level of just being bffs, there's another layer. They basically belong together.

5 - Saywer & Juliet [Lost]

Sawyer: So, you screwing Jack yet?
Juliet: No, are you?

I hate Jack & Kate. Both characters annoy the heck out of me, so I really dislike the whole triangle of doom bullshit they've got on the island. I mean, if they want to be all boring couple-y, that's fine, but why drag kickass characters into it? Sawyer is badass, and deserves better than to be Kate's love slave. Juliet is fierce and deserves to stop being screwed over. My solution? Get them together! Come on, they've both had a rough few years, and now they're stranded on the island together even after their friends and prospective love interests got to fly away? Yeah, they definitely need some consolation sex. Plus, they are pretty and I am shallow.

4 - Nick & Lindsay [Freaks & Geeks]

Lindsay: You wanna make out or something?

Oh god, how do I describe my love for these two? They're the quintessential highschool romance. Things are sweet in an naive innocence before quickly turning to some of the most painfully awkward scenes you can imagine. Then things are over in a flash, and then then it starts right back up again. Cute, cringe-worthy and never ending. The scene in the disco in the finale, where they both look back at each other as Lindsay walks away? Perfect. I really wish we could have seen them continue in season two, but alas it never was to be. (not to mention, the writers said season two would have explored more Lindsay/Daniel, but that's another story). In the meantime, let their love live on through youtube serenades. (Please note this is the second time in this list I have linked to Jason Segel singing dorky love songs to a girlfriend. I love this guy.)

3 - Rose & The Doctor [Doctor Who]

The Doctor: I'm so glad I met you.
Rose: Me too.

Please note this includes Nine & Ten. Still the same dude, people. But anyway, they are impossible not to love. They made each other better. The Doctor changed Rose's life, showed her things she never would have seen and helped her grow into a strong character - defender of the freaking Earth, even. And she met the Doctor just after the Time War and helped make him whole again. They never could have settled down together, but they didn't need to - travelling the universe was the only happily ever after either of them would want. Unfortunately, this is Doctor Who we're talking about, so there is no happy. Even after Doomsday and being ripped apart, they still loved each other. Probably always will. (Please also note that I am deliberately ignoring the whole Doctor-clone S4 ending).

2 - Jim & Pam [The Office]

Jim: I was just... I'm in love with you.
Pam: What?
Jim: I'm really sorry if that's weird for you to hear, but I needed you to hear it. Probably not good timing. I know that, I just...
Pam: What are you doing? What do you expect me to say to that?

Because I'm a masochist and angst is AWESOME. No, really, this is the most painfully rewarding relationship ever. Season upon season of adorable chemistry and smiles mixed in with poor timing, sad glances and heartache. The scene at Phylis's wedding where Pam glances at Jim (with Karen) then away, then he glances at her? Or the scene late at night on the phone when Jim's working Stamford? Or when he returns and they hug but then Karen's there? Or when Pam cries when she realizes Jim's really moved on? Or Casino Night, for crying out loud? Heartwrenching in every way, but the sweet moments between them make it more than worth it. The drawn out will-they-or-won't-they is why their relationship now is so satisfying - we've invested as much into this as they have. MADE FOR EACH OTHER.

AND THAT ONLY LEAVES ROOM FOR ONE MORE,

1 - Desmond & Penny [Lost]

Penny: All we really need to survive is one person who truly loves us. And you have her. I will wait for you always. I love you.

I love them so, so much. By far, one of the most rewarding couples I've ever seen. They never gave up on each other, no matter how crazy or unrealistic things seemed. They broke up before the missing for three years trapped on an island part, but still never stopped loving each other or trying to get back to each other. Desmond travelled through time and she was what kept him alive. She kept the same phone number for all those years when he said that future-him would call on Christmas Eve, who does that? Who would honestly believe their crazy exboyfriend if he said that? And after he ran away, after he disappeared, she never stopped looking for him. She had Polish dudes in the arctic, she had her own boat in the middle of nowhere, she was pulling out all the stops to find him again. This is a classic case of TRUE LOVE CONQUERS ALL. Their love is epic and perfect and unstoppable and OTP.
